My father had a bookshelf of mystery and crime paperbacks when I was growing up. The only ones I ever read were Gregory Mcdonald's Fletch series which suited my teenage wise ass self just fine.
The Fletch books sold well. The first two won Edgar Awards from the Mystery Writers of America. Mr. Mcdonald’s favorite award, however, came from the Moscow Literary Review in 1992: “Best Foreign Author — Not Yet Dead.”
